Introducing GamePlan Chiropractic & Rehab

A story about rediscovering movement, identity, and what GamePlan is really all about.

Hello, there!

For those of you who have stumbled upon this page and we have not already had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Ron Pierce.  I hope to meet you in person, especially if you need a bit of help. If you are in need, please check out the chat bot here on my page and do not hesitate to reach out!

If you want to get a feel for whether we could work together or not, keep reading or have a look around.

I have been in the UK for 9 years now, working as a chiropractor that entire time.  Before that, I was a keen ice hockey athlete chasing lofty dreams and headed off to Collegeville Minnesota, just outside of St. Cloud where I played NCAA Div 3 ice hockey and began my academic career.  I ended up in Columbia Missouri nearer to my family and transferred to University of Missouri; colloquially known as Mizzou.  I continued to play ice hockey for a couple more years with Mizzou’s ACHA team and later graduated with a BSc in Biology, BA in Psychology and was unsure exactly what to do next.

I loved sport, and even after stepping away from hockey for a couple of years, I still identified as an athlete. But I knew change was coming. I wanted to stay involved.  Just in a new capacity.  Injuries helped guide me toward training and rehab, so I ended up at Logan University studying Chiropractic.  I finished with my Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2016, while later finishing my MSc Sport Science and Rehabilitation a few years later.

I was lucky enough to work alongside some top Physiotherapists over the past few years, really honing my clinical skills, confidence and rehabilitation knowledge.  Just last year, after an injury I really noticed something.  I had slowly been starting to let go of a part of my identity… That of an athlete.  It wasn’t my whole identity anymore… I was already aware of that.  It was still a massive part of me that had been slowly diminishing.  That accelerated with my injury and I was in a rough place.  Not just physically.. Mentally.

Just as that sense of realization was setting in, an opportunity arose.  I began playing competitive, league ice hockey again with the Billingham Buccaneers.  For the first time in 15 years.

I had to redouble my efforts and shift my focus. I wasn't 100%. I was, and still somewhat am unfit. At least by my own standards for playing a sport semi-professionally. I was already pushing myself well beyond previous limits and standards.  In the past two years, I’ve learned more than I did through most of my clinical training.  All while battling all the things that come with having your identity shaken, challenged and questioned.

But now…  I had a timeline.  I had a schedule.  Trials were in 8 months.

I have just begun my second season with the Buccs and the journey is ongoing, while the process is ever evolving.  My identity as an athlete is in full revival.  But now it is matched by a more solid understanding of exactly what type of Chiropractor I want to be.

I started Gameplan this summer and intend to build it around the belief that movement comes in all forms; that everyone is an athlete in their own right. For some, that might mean skating, running, or lifting. For others, it’s walking the dog, picking up their kids, or getting through a long workday without undue stress. Wherever you’re starting from, or trying to go, my job is to help you move better, feel stronger, and enjoy the things that matter most to you.

My goal here, online or in person, is to share insights and practical advice and a heavy dose of education and evidence.  I am not perfect, but I will always work to be as informed as possible.  My opinions change, I am honest with what the evidence says, what the data shows, and I share as much as I can.  I am an aging athlete, but still an athlete - making me a patient as much as a practitioner.

But I know my shit! (pardon the language)..

I can help you. I don’t work miracles.  Sometimes progress is not linear, in fact it almost never is.  The longer I do this, the more I truly understand how difficult it can be for some to balance life, work and our health.

That’s what GamePlan is really about: helping you reconnect with the things that make you feel alive and capable, whatever that looks like for you.  Alternatively, it can be about helping you find that thing, that passion, that activity.  Even if it is just as another support structure along the way.

Everyone’s journey is their own - their path is theirs to forge, or follow. Sometimes the GamePlan is to rest, recover, or slow down; other times it’s about small adjustments mid-game.  Even if you are chasing perfection, it is the process that gets you there.

It starts with little progress, perspective, and feeling good in your own body again.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my story. I hope this space helps you learn, reflect, or maybe even rediscover a bit of your own drive. Whether you’re rebuilding, starting fresh, or just trying to move a little better — welcome to GamePlan. Let’s get moving, in your own way.

Services

GamePlan Chiropractic and Rehab is currently a primarily housecall, or Digital based practice.  GamePlan can also rotate through a few locations on an adhoc basis.

Treatment is always tailored to your goals, needs, and preferences; blending guidance, coaching, manual therapy, and exercise to help you move and feel better in ways that make sense for you.

GamePlan currently offers several basic services to get you started:

  • In Person Initial Assessment: Your first visit is about understanding you — your story, movement, and goals. Together we’ll explore to identify what’s going on and begin a plan to get you moving and feeling better.  Keeping it simple.

  • Physical exam + History + Treatment

  • Virtual Initial Assessment: Can’t make it in person? A virtual assessment offers the same individualised approach. We remain focused on listening to your story, assessing movement patterns, and helping you understand what’s going on and what to do next.

    • Research has shown that video-based musculoskeletal assessments can be reliable and effective for both diagnosis and treatment planning when guided by an experienced clinician (Cottrell et al., Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare, 2017).

  • Virtual or In Person Follow Ups: Housecalls, ad hoc location, or video chat, we will follow up and continue the treatment that fits your needs, preferences and goals.

  • Care Packages: Your GamePlan doesn’t stop after one visit. Ongoing care packages provide structured check-ins, progress reviews, exercise guidance and regular manual therapy sessions all-in-one. May be overkill for some, but consider these the overkill option to just dive all in. Stay even more connected and adjust the plan as your goals evolve. It’s less about appointments, more about having a coach in your corner.

  • Public Speaking Engagements: Workplace health and wellness events, talks, etc.  Coaching development, and collaboration.

  • Ron has experience speaking to multiple businesses and a few gyms on topics such as workplace wellness, rehab, training with injury and more!  Reach out for inquiries.
